Casey North Community Information and Support Service (CISS) officially opened its new home in Narre Warren on Wednesday 19 August.
City of Casey Mayor Cr Michelle Crowther; Deputy Mayor Cr Anthony Walter; Cr Kim Ross; Cr Gary Rowe; and Cr Stefan Koomen joined Casey North CISS Executive Officer Sean Coleman and Casey North CISS board members, staff and volunteers to celebrate the opening of Webb Street premises.
For almost 30 years, Casey North CISS has been one of the community’s most trusted support organisations, providing practical assistance and guidance to more than 8,000 household every year. The organisation works collaboratively with Cranbourne CISS and other community organisations to ensure residents can access timely, coordinated support when they need it most, such as emergency relief, financial counselling and referral support.
Mayor Cr Crowther said the opening marks an important milestone for an organisation that has made a lasting difference in the lives of local residents.
“Today we celebrate not only a new home for Casey North CISS, but also nearly 30 years of dedicated service to our community,” she said
“For many people experiencing hardship, uncertainty or crisis, Casey North CISS is often the first place they turn for help. This new premises provides a permanent, accessible and welcoming space where residents can access support in a safe and respectful environment.”
Cr Crowther said the improved facilities, funded through Council’s Capital Works Program, will support the organisation to continue meeting the needs of Casey’s growing community.
“These upgraded facilities will enhance service delivery, improve accessibility and help ensure Casey North CISS can continue supporting local residents for many years to come,” she said.
The co-location of Casey North CISS alongside neighbouring community organisations, including the City of Casey’s Narre Warren Youth Information Centre; Windermere Child & Family Services; Uniting; The Bridge Inc.; Transit Soup Kitchen; and Services Victoria, creates valuable opportunities for collaboration, integrated service delivery and stronger outcomes for the community.
