Centre closes for winter facelift

From Friday 5 May, Prahran Aquatic Centre will close its doors for several months while we refurbish the outdoor pools and update the indoor facilities.

Open since 1963 and previously updated in the 90s, the pools and buildings are showing signs of wear and tear and need a refresh.

Over the next months we will complete a program of improvement works including refurbishing the outdoor 50-metre and toddler pools, upgrading the pool surrounds and repairing the grandstand seating.

Inside the centre building we’ll update the tiles and fittings in the change rooms and make improvements to the spa and sauna areas.

The water heat pump that failed weeks out from the planned refurbishment works will also be replaced.

These works will bring the centre up to an acceptable standard for the mid-term, with a full redevelopment planned in the future through the Princes Gardens masterplan implementation.

All going to plan, we look forward to welcoming pool patrons back in spring 2023.

With the centre closed, PAC visit passes and memberships will be accepted and regular user groups will relocate to Harold Holt Swim Centre.

For PAC members who don’t want to relocate, memberships can be suspended and visit passes will automatically be extended.

We expect for the new few months Harold Holt Swim Centre will be busier than usual and we recommend patrons bear this in mind when planning a visit and, if you’re a lap swimmer, we recommend you check lap lane availability in advance.
