Lloyds Auctioneers and Valuers

Glenn Seton’s 1997 Australian touring, championship winning, Ford Credit Falcon EL is going under the hammer this weekend and is set to become the country’s next million-dollar automotive collectable.

This vehicle was built for the Bathurst 1000 in 1996, taking pole position, and setting the benchmark of 302kph on Conrod Straight, which stood unbroken until 2014.

“Glenn Seton is a true motorsport legend in Australia, and it is an honour to be able to auction one of the most impressive sporting vehicles and pass it on to its next custodians,” said Lee Hames, Chief Operating Officer for Lloyds Auctions.

Glenn won the championship in the first year of the new V8 supercar era in the Ford, it was then driven by Neil Crompton in 1998 and 1999. The car has a total of 8 years racing life and has not been raced since 2002.

“The new owners will not just be buying a piece of extremely rare motorsport history, but they will now have the opportunity to create their own memories,” continued Mr. Hames.

“The car is in immaculate condition and the current owner is to be commended for this,” said Mr. Hames.

The winning bidder of the car will also receive the 1998 Championship helmet, race suit and Shell series banner all signed by Glenn Seton.

This car features as part of one of Lloyds biggest Classic Car auctions ever featuring over 300 cars including Kerry Packer’s 1977 Jaguar XJS, an extremely rare HSV VN SS Group A build #002 of only 302 ever built, Russel Ingall’s 2000 Castrol V8 Supercar and many other classic Australian, American, and European vehicles.

It is sure to be a weekend of record breakers and memorable moments with something for everyone to enjoy. Queenslanders can register to get free tickets for the Classic Car auction here. For those who cannot attend, the entire auction will be live-streamed for free on the Lloyds Auctions website and their social media platforms on YouTube & Facebook.

This championship winning car will go under the hammer from 12pm this Saturday the 31st of July.
