Charges laid as critical incident investigation continues – Hebersham

A man has been charged with attempted murder following an alleged domestic violence incident at Hebersham last week.

Shortly before 8.50am on Friday (25 August 2023), emergency services responded to a home at Crawley Avenue, following reports of an assault.

Officers from Mount Druitt Police Area Command arrived to find a woman with head injuries.

Police attempted to speak to a man – known to the woman – before he allegedly suffered self-inflicted injuries.

The 30-year-old woman was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.

The 29-year-old man was also treated by paramedics and taken to hospital where he remains.

He has now been charged with attempted murder (DV). The matter was heard in Mt Druitt Local Court today, where he was formally refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court on Friday 27 October 2023.

A critical incident team from North Shore Police Area Command continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The investigation will be subject to an independent review.
