Checking In With You

Can you believe it’s been three years since we created the Community Vision?

Shaped by the feedback of more than 3,000 Mornington Peninsula residents, the Community Vision gave us a clear picture of what you want the Peninsula to look like from now to 2040.

We are now checking in to hear if the vision still feels right to you, if there is anything missing, and where you would like Council to focus its efforts.

You told us what you wanted the Peninsula to look like in 2040. This shaped our seven guiding principles:

  1. Addressing climate change
  2. Integrated public transport and accessibility infrastructure
  3. Support an inclusive, connected and safe society
  4. Innovative planning and development of the local economy
  5. Encourage and expand education, sports and arts opportunities
  6. Protect and enhance all elements of our natural land, sea and biodiverse environments
  7. Plan and regulate responsible and innovative housing development.

What you tell us will also help shape our next Council and Wellbeing Plan for 2025-2029, as well as our Finance and Asset Plans.

Developed by our Council, the Council and Wellbeing Plan plan outlines how we work toward delivering upon the vision.

Quotes attributable to Mayor Councillor Simon Brooks:

“With such a big process undertaken in 2021, it is important that we continue to value what you told us then, but take the time to gain a clear insight on whether it still aligns to your values or for you to let us know if anything may be missing.

“What you tell us will help inform the development of our next four year Council and Wellbeing Plan, which provides us with the strategic direction to deliver from 2025 to 2029.”
