Church Street footpaths done and dusted

Over 26 days and 10 nights, crews worked diligently to undertake essential footpath repairs between St Andrews and Male Streets. We mobilised swiftly to undertake the works during the current lockdown when many businesses were closed or open for limited trade.

We encountered some other issues along the way, so we fixed them at the same time for cost efficiency and to avoid having to return and disrupt traders again.

The project involved:

  • 984m2 concrete footpath replacement
  • 156m2 of asphalt patching
  • 64m2 porous paving to tree plots
  • 20 tactile installation to non-conforming pram crossings
  • 77.5 metres of concrete kerb and channel replacement
  • 15 riser installations to Telstra pits
  • 75 metres of line marking
  • 25 hours of tree root protection/management works
  • drain cleaning and surveillance
  • re-mapping of new drainage to mitigate flooding to retailers
  • 10 x sign re-installation
  • 10 x bin receptacle and bench chair removal and reinstallation

There was a strong focus on environmentally friendly measures throughout the project. The concrete and asphalt that was removed has been independently crushed for re-use as aggregate for road base or suitable backfill material.

Thank you to traders and residents in Brighton for their cooperation and patience while we completed this important work.
