City of Holdfast Bay responds to COVID-19

With the current news and situation evolving with Coronavirus (COVID-19), the City of Holdfast Bay is closely monitoring the latest information from Federal and State governments and are working to manage any impact to our people and community.

In response to the current public health situation, we have temporarily suspended or postponed a number of Council-run community programs, activities and events to minimise the risk to the Holdfast Bay community.

These include:

  • Temporarily closing the Bay Discovery Centre, Gallery & Museum and the Visitor Information Centre at the Glenelg Town Hall until 13 April 2020.
  • We have suspended a range of group programs for children and adults at our Glenelg and Brighton libraries until 19 April 2020.
  • Following government advice regarding mass gatherings, many events managed by City of Holdfast Bay have been cancelled, which includes the Hounds of Holdfast event planned for 29 March 2020.
  • The City of Holdfast Bay events team is working with organisers of external events due to be held in Holdfast Bay to postpone any large scale events planned in the immediate future.
  • We have also suspended all Community Wellbeing social group activities, including Let’s Eat, Aqua Fun, Fish Feeders, Tuesdays at Kauri, Coffee Crawl, On the Move Day Trips, Carers Chit Chat and Movie Morning, until further notice.

The public health situation is being constantly reviewed so that these programs, events or activities can recommence as soon as it is safe to do so.

We are urging all our staff and community members to continue practicing good hygiene, as per SA Health guidelines.

  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds
  • Avoid touching your face
  • Sneeze or cough into the crook of your arm or use a tissue and dispose of straight away, then wash your hands
  • Do not attend work if you are unwell
