Whether it is the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, inequality, education or job security, people in Wellington care deeply about the issues they see in their community – and Wellington Shire Council is calling on residents to share their experience of community, especially in this tumultuous year.
Videos for Change (V4C) is a national program that began as a competition for people aged 12 to 17 years, but in this year of crisis, courage and the coronavirus, Council’s Community Wellbeing unit has recognised the opportunity to also engage and involve the broader public across the shire in a creative expression of their experiences of community.
Aptly, the topic for this year’s V4C program is “What is community in a crisis?”
Videos 4 Change Wellington invites one-minute video submissions from anyone across the shire and will bring all of Wellington’s stories into one space – showcasing and celebrating the many places where people across our region come together to find, seek and provide a sense of community.
It is about amplifying your voice as an individual, community group or school, to connect with the broader community.
Videos 4 Change Wellington will be open for submissions until Sunday 6 December.
After this time, there will be an online sharing of entries for the community and video authors, then an online announcement of prize winners.
