Connection at heart of New Residents Event

Community and connection are the central pillars of the next New Residents Event, which is to held on Sunday 15 October at Viaduct Park.

To build on the success of the networking-style evening in May, Tamworth Regional Council has made a conscious decision to hold the event in an open space – aiming to assist those attending to come together, share stories and have genuine conversations with each other.

“After receiving feedback from those that attended the event in May, it was clear that there was a need to shift our focus onto giving new residents – particularly families – the chance to get to know each other in a more casual setting,” said Councillor Webb.

“Those who come along to Viaduct Park from 1 – 5pm will get the chance to be social while also having an opportunity to get information about how they can be involved in our community, whether that be through joining a local sporting team or signing up to a community initiative.”

Over 27 local organisations, clubs and businesses have registered for the New Residents Event to help those in attendance gain practical knowledge about the Tamworth region.

Natasha Little, Event Officer at Tamworth Regional Council, is excited to see the event evolve.

“The feedback we received from both businesses and residents has helped us understand what new community members need when moving to our region,” said Natasha.

“Residents really valued the information they received from business and community representatives at the last event, but they also enjoyed chatting and getting to know other people that were there too”

Those that are attending the event from 1 – 5pm can expect musical and dance performances from local entertainment groups, food trucks, a barbeque and friendly conversation. Both new residents and local residents are welcome to attend.
