Coronavirus update 11 January 2022

There are 861 COVID-19 cases in hospital in Victoria – with 66 active cases in ICU and 51 cleared cases in ICU, and 27 people on a ventilator.

5,162,857 vaccine doses have been administered by Victoria’s state-commissioned services, with 16,433 administered yesterday at state-run centres.

94.6 per cent of Victorians aged 12 and over have now had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 93.1 per cent have had two doses. This excludes the most recent Commonwealth data.

17.6 per cent of Victorians aged 18 and over have had three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Victoria was notified of 37,994 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday. This includes:

  • 18,503 who tested positive on a Rapid Antigen Test and who reported the result to the Department
  • 19,491 who returned a positive result on a PCR test

Of those who reported a positive result on a Rapid Antigen Test yesterday:

  • Approximately 9,500 (or 51 per cent) were from tests undertaken yesterday, 10 January.
  • Approximately 3,000 (or 16 per cent) were from tests undertaken 9 January.
  • With the remainder from tests undertaken over the previous five days.

Sadly, the Department was notified yesterday of 13 deaths of people aged in their 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. This brings the total number of deaths in Victoria since the pandemic began to 1,593.

There are 171,369 active cases in Victoria.

59,670 PCR tests were processed yesterday. The total number of PCR tests performed in Victoria since the pandemic began is 18,077,446.
