There are 707 COVID-19 cases in hospital in Victoria – with 50 active cases in ICU, including 29 on a ventilator, and an additional 29 cleared cases in ICU.
5,692,299 vaccine doses have been administered by Victoria’s state-commissioned services, with 15,310 administered yesterday at state-run centres. 1,035 of the doses administered yesterday were for children aged 5 to 11.
The number of COVID-19 vaccines administered to children aged 5-11 year at state-run centres topped the 100,000 mark yesterday with a total of 101,035 doses given at state-centres since the paediatric vaccination program began.
42.7 per cent of Victorians aged 18 and over have had three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. 93.6 per cent of Victorians aged 12 and over have had two doses. 47.4 per cent of Victorians between 5 and 11 have had one dose.
11,240 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded yesterday. This includes:
- 7,351 who tested positive on a Rapid Antigen Test
- 3,889 who returned a positive result on a PCR test.
Sadly, the Department was notified yesterday of 36 deaths of people aged in their 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. Of today’s reported deaths, 10 were recorded as occurring in the past two days with a further 18 deaths that occurred over the past fortnight. Eight of the deaths are historic cases that occurred in November, December and early to mid-January.
This brings the total number of deaths in Victoria since the pandemic began to 2,124.
There are 65,968 active cases in Victoria.
24,737 PCR tests were processed yesterday. The total number of PCR tests performed in Victoria since the pandemic began is 19,020,958.

$1.4 billion funding boost to Omicron response and steps to elective surgery resumption
Today the Victorian Government announced a $1.4 billion funding package to ensure our health system has the resources and support they need to continue caring for Victorians with COVID-19 at home or in hospital.
From Monday 7 February, private hospitals and day procedure centres will be able to resume elective day surgery at up to 50 per cent of normal levels.
