At its October 2019 meeting, Adelaide Hills Council adopted a Corporate Carbon Management Plan as part of its ongoing commitment to reducing the organisation’s impact on climate change.
The Carbon Management Plan (CMP) was prepared in consultation with consultant d2 and provides an overview of our current corporate carbon emissions and how, over time, this can be meaningfully reduced in a financially responsible manner.

The priority projects for Council’s CMP include addressing behaviour change, utilising solar power, exploring electric vehicle options, and purchasing renewable power. Some projects, like the recent change to LED street lighting, are already underway.
The long-term aim for Council, through implementation of the CMP, is to achieve 100% renewable energy as we strive towards carbon neutral operations. As detailed in the CMP, we are forecast to reach 100% renewable energy by financial year 2023-24 by focusing on energy efficiency, renewable energy and behavioural change, and decisions around electricity contracting.
