Council landscaping projects in Mooroopna

Greater Shepparton City Council is pleased to advise landscaping works on three of the open space blocks in the centre of McLennan Street Mooroopna are nearing completion.

Landscaping works began in February on two of these blocks, located near the Echuca Road intersection on McLennan Street, and another block near the old water works on McLennan Street, to the west of O’Brien Street and Watt Road. This project is a significant investment in improving Mooroopna’s streetscape with costs in the order of $370,000 and includes construction of new garden beds, decorative granitic landscaping, installation of plants and new irrigation infrastructure, edging, lighting and pedestrian fencing. Tree planting will occur in the coming months when weather conditions are most appropriate.

Greater Shepparton City Council Director Infrastructure, Phil Hoare, said “We are already receiving really positive feedback from the local community who appreciate the improvements to the town’s main thoroughfare. It’s rewarding to hear both local community members and those travelling through the area already appreciating and enjoying the revitalized areas. We trust that the community will benefit from these works for many years to come and as the new garden beds mature and the improved irrigation infrastructure takes effect the full benefit will be realised.”

“Mooroopna has been a hive of construction activity in the first half of this year with the Mooroopna War Memorial works completed in April and the Water Tower toilets underway.

“I want to thank the Mooroopna community for their assistance and for their support during the works,” Mr Hoare said.
