COVID Care Packs in Schools

Jeremy Rockliff,Acting Minister for Education

The delivery of COVID Care packs continues to progress well, with all public schools in the North and North-West to have received their packs by the end of today.

All Public schools in the South remain on track to receive their packs by the end of the day tomorrow, which will mean that all schools will have the COVID care packs available for collection on Monday and Tuesday.

Importantly, schools will be communicating with their school communities about how to collect those packs before school commences next Wednesday 9 February.

Where parents are unable to pick them up prior to the return of school, they are encouraged to contact the school office to make alternative arrangements, which may include express postage.

With respect to communications sent out recently by Lansdowne Crescent Primary School, I am advised that this was a letter sent out earlier in the week.

The school has advised that they will be making packs available from next Monday, and this will be communicated to their school community very shortly.

They will be making packs available early next week before the return to school, and will be communicating this to the school community very shortly.

Our schools will be stocked to provide replacement RATs as needed with more than 1.5 million tests available to supply our schools in the coming weeks.

Instead of trawling Facebook looking for a “gotcha” moment, the Opposition should stop fearmongering and support the Government’s work as we transition back to school.

Students and their families can be confident that we are prepared for a COVID safe return to school.
