Covid Update: No new cases

The Northern Territory has recorded no new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. Cluster two of the NT outbreak remains at 19 cases.

Extensive contact tracing remains underway and 384 close contacts have been identified to date. Of these 288 close contacts have been contacted and are isolating while 201 contacts have returned a negative test. Close contacts will continue to be tested for COVID-19 regularly throughout their 14-day quarantine period.

Wastewater results for Katherine for the period 15 – 16 November 2021 were positive. This is not unexpected, as COVID was in Katherine on these days. NT-wide wastewater results are expected later today.

COVID-19 testing

More than 2,100 COVID-19 tests were processed across the NT yesterday. In Katherine, 686 COVID-19 tests were undertaken yesterday while 60 were completed in Borroloola. About 173 tests were completed in Robinson River yesterday and all residents in the community have now been tested for COVID-19. A number of tests still need to be processed and these results are expected today. There are now 41 close contacts from Robinson River in quarantine at the Centre for National Resilience (CNR) in Howard Springs, with an additional eight people to be transported today.

To increase testing capacity and meet demand in Katherine and Greater Darwin, additional COVID-19 testing clinics are now operational.

KATHERINE:

A new pop-up clinic has opened. The Katherine East Side Clinic is located in the Youth Outreach Building in the Eastside Shop Complex and is open today from 10am – 6pm and tomorrow from 8:30am – 6pm. Bookings are required.

The Katherine Hospital Pandemic Clinic (Drive-Through Testing Site) is open daily from 9am to 10pm. Bookings are required.

The Katherine walk-in COVID-19 testing clinic is open daily from 8:30am – 6:00pm. No bookings are required.

DARWIN:

The Marrara Drive-Through Testing Site in Darwin is open today from 8am – 6pm. Bookings are preferred.

COVID-19 testing sites are also open in Alice Springs, Tennant Creek and Nhulunbuy. Testing is also available at NT Health clinics in remote communities.

It is critical that anyone in the Territory who has symptoms gets tested for COVID-19 immediately to help prevent the spread of the virus.

COVID-19 vaccination

Vaccination data across the NT shows 96% of Territorians have had their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine while 83% are fully vaccinated having had two doses.

Yesterday, 2,244 COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered across the NT – the third highest day on record. In addition, the vaccination rate in four Central Australia communities has increased to above 70% first dose. These include: Watarrka, Wallace Rockhole. Nyirripi and Ikuntji. In Katherine, 95 vaccine doses were administered yesterday and 87 in Borroloola.

Overseas COVID-19 case recorded

One new case of COVID-19 has been recorded in the NT with a 44-year-old male at the Centre for National Resilience testing positive after arriving on a flight from New York via Sydney on 13 November 2021. This case is not connected to the NT outbreak. He has mild symptoms.
