Exhibitions on themes as diverse as Indigenous body art, movie costumes and contemporary children’s television will be funded to tour regional Australia.
The National Collecting Institutions Touring and Outreach (NCITO) program will provide development and touring funding to take 18 exhibitions on the road when COVID-19 restrictions allow.
One which will have popular appeal is ‘Happy Birthday Play School: Celebrating 50 Years’. The National Museum of Australia tour will feature sets and props from the longest running children’s series on Australian television.
For fans of the big screen, The National Film and Sound Archive’s ‘The Dressmaker Costume Exhibition’ will feature outfits from the 2015 film starring Kate Winslet, Judy Davis, Liam Hemsworth and Hugo Weaving.
The National Gallery of Australia will tour three exhibitions, including ‘Body Language: Cultural Identity Expressed Through the Language of Body Art’, which will explore Indigenous culture through a unique lens.

There will also be exhibitions of Arthur Boyd landscapes, political cartoons, Australia’s role in the space age and even Australian facial hair fashions.
All tours will be undertaken within relevant COVID-19 health and safety guidelines to ensure the safety of audiences.
