Deadline extended for industry to submit film studio proposals

  • Considerable interest in State Government’s call for WA’s screen industry to develop state-of-the-art studio facilities in Perth
  • Deadline for private sector to make submissions extended by two weeks to September 25
  • The State Government has extended the deadline for private sector parties to submit a proposal to develop state-of-the-art studio facilities for Western Australia’s screen production industries to September 25, 2020.

Earlier this month, the Government called for proposals from the private sector to locate, build and operate a screen production facility in Perth.

The call for submissions is part of the Government’s Problem and Opportunity Statements initiative, which aims to have the government and private sector work together to stimulate the economy and create jobs in WA.

The Government is calling for a proposal to develop the facility within 20 kilometres of Perth’s central business district and provide a sound stage and ancillary facilities for film and screen productions, as well as cater for the gaming and emerging technologies sectors.

Further information about the Problem and Opportunity Statement initiative can be found on the Department of Finance’s website.

As stated by Culture and the Arts Minister David Templeman:

“There has been considerable interest in the State Government’s request for WA’s screen industry to develop screen and studio facilities in Perth.

“To ensure we get the best possible outcome for WA, we have decided to extend the deadline for industry participants to submit their proposals.”
