Designs released for Mofflin makeover
The City of Playford has released concept designs for its $4.6M development of Mofflin Reserve at Elizabeth Vale.

Council has released concept designs for its $4.6M development of Mofflin Reserve at Elizabeth Vale.

Located close to the Lyell McEwin Hospital in the Playford Health Precinct, the reserve is set to be transformed into a community health and wellness space following a $2M grant from the State Government’s Open Space Grant Program.

A concept design has been prepared for the site and offers not only areas for physical activity and play, but also quiet spaces for rest, reflection and recuperation.

“Mofflin Reserve sits at the heart of the Playford Health Precinct and our aim is to transform this space to align with the health and wellbeing focus of the area,” said Mayor Glenn Docherty.

“As well as having opportunities for physical activity and fun play activities for children, the design includes things like sheltered seating areas, a therapeutic garden and passive areas to enjoy nature.

“We think the reserve will be warmly welcomed and frequented by locals, as well as becoming a place of respite for those working at or visiting the Lyell McEwin Hospital and other health services in the area.”

The development will take place on the underutilized southern portion of Mofflin Reserve, with the northern sections retained for local sport. The draft design features a walking and running loop track, playspace including an obstacle course and all-abilities equipment, fitness node, car parking, as well as lighting and a toilet block.

“We want to make sure we have the right mix of facilities available and are now asking for community feedback on the draft design,” said Mayor Docherty.

Public consultation will run from Monday 28 February until Monday 21 March and includes the opportunity to meet with project staff at the Elizabeth Vale Shopping Centre on Tuesday 15 March (10am-12pm) and Thursday 17 March (4pm-6pm).

Mofflin Reserve is the latest advancement at the Playford Health Precinct, with construction set to commence on Healthia’s 96-place residential care home at Elizabeth South in the coming months.

“These latest developments build on the unique opportunity to develop the area in to an integrated, world class health and wellbeing precinct,” said Mayor Docherty.
