Detectives release CCTV vision of vehicle as inquiries continue into Sefton shooting, NSW

Detectives have released CCTV vision of a vehicle and are appealing for public information, as investigations continue into the shooting of a man at Sefton last month.

About 11.45pm on Friday 2 October 2020, emergency services were called to Anderson Lane, near Helen Street at Sefton, following reports a man had been shot.

On arrival, officers located a 19-year-old man suffering multiple gunshot wounds to his chest and leg.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital in a critical condition, where he remains.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced inquiries, before detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad took carriage of the investigation under Strike Force Cassandra.

Initial inquiries suggest the 19-year-old man was seated in the driver’s seat of a vehicle with a 21-year-old male passenger.

A number of men then approached the car, pulled the driver out and shot him.

The passenger-side window was smashed during the incident, causing minor injuries to the older man. He did not require further medical treatment.

As investigations continue, detectives have released CCTV vision of a white Audi station wagon with a sunroof, seen in the area at the time of the incident and are appealing to the public for information about its movements.

Anyone who may have seen this vehicle, or who has dashcam footage from the Sefton area between 11pm on Friday 2 October 2020 and 1am on Saturday 3 October 2020, is urged to come forward.

Detectives are also appealing for anyone with information about the shooting who has not yet spoken to police to come forward.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
