Empty Bowls is Back 2021

“Please sir can I have some more?” The image conjured up by Dickens of the hungry child holding up a bowl is sadly as relevant today as it was nearly two centuries ago. Empty Bowls 2021 is a fundraising event that hopes to change that for thousands of needy Western Australians.

Ticket holders choose from dozens of beautiful bowls hand crafted by talented WA potters. They fill their bowl with scrumptious hot soup and get to take their unique pottery piece home. With donated soup cooked up by talented local chefs, it’s likely we’ll be hearing pleas for “more?

Last year, Empty Bowls raised nearly $20,000, enough to fund 38,000 meals. Hard times are by no means over.

Event host White Peacock Studios in Glen Forrest has reached out to WA potters to throw some clay to the wheel. Given the superb pieces donated last year, we have great expectations. We’re also calling restaurants and venues with commercial kitchens to help the cause by cooking soup or donating bread. Artists can help too, donated art pieces will be auctioned on the day.

Empty Bowls is to be held at Christ Church Grammar School, August 22nd. Ticket holders will be greeted with a fantastic display of pottery creations laid out on a long table and treated to beautiful sounds by WAAPA music students. The event also includes a charity auction of donated art pieces, with all money raised going to food relief.

Tickets can be purchased through Try Booking for $25. There will be three sittings, throughout the day, 11am, 12pm and 1pm.
