Extortion charges at Strathpine, QLD

Three men have been charged after allegedly threatening a man and demanding money from his family yesterday afternoon (Sunday).

It will be alleged around 12.30pm a man attended an address in Strathpine when he was threatened by three men with a blow torch and pliers. They were known to the man and he was forced into a vehicle before been driven around the Strathpine area.

The man was forced to text and ring a family member requesting money.

The family member contacted police who located the vehicle at 3.47pm in Gympie Road at Strathpine where they arrested the men.

The victim, a 25-year-old Lawnton man was also located. He was not physically injured during the incident.

A 29-year-old Wamuran man, a 22-year-old Margate man and a 27-year-old Morayfield man have all been charged with one count each of extortion and deprivation of liberty.

They will all appear at the Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on Monday, September 2.
