FECCA welcomes new Morrison Ministry

The Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia (FECCA) today welcomed Scott Morrison’s new Ministerial team and congratulated those Ministers retaining or moving into new portfolios.

Specifically, FECCA congratulated David Coleman for retaining his portfolio as Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs, and Jason Wood on being appointed Assistant Minister for Multicultural Affairs.

FECCA also congratulated Senator Richard Colbeck for being promoted to Minister for Aged Care and Senior Australians, Stuart Robert for becoming Minister for National Disabilities Insurance Scheme and Minister for Government Services and Senator Anne Ruston for her elevation to Minister for Families and Social Services.

FECCA Chairperson Mary Patetsos said FECCA looks forward to working with the new Ministers to advance the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) Australians.

“FECCA looks forward to meeting the Ministers to discuss the needs and challenges faced by CALD Australians,” she said.

“We welcomed the Government’s announcement before the election for the $10m CALD Aged Care Navigator trial and we look forward to working together towards implementing a successful trial.

“We also congratulate the Government for setting up ‘Services Australia’ and we look forward to working closely with the new entity to ensure the needs of CALD Australians are addressed.

“FECCA will continue to work with Ministers and agencies across government to develop strong policies that help bring Australia’s diverse communities closer together, improve access and equity for migrant groups and stamp out hate speech in our society.”

FECCA is the peak, national body representing Australians from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds. FECCA’s role is to advocate and promote issues on behalf of its constituency to government, business and the broader community.
