Michael Ferguson has failed to come clean on whether he misled Tasmanians, or was kept out of the loop on Tasmania’s biggest infrastructure spend.
Shadow Infrastructure Minister Shane Broad said, either way, Mr Ferguson’s incompetence was on display yet again.
“On the 15th of July when asked for an update on the MOU between the TT-Line and ship builder RMC, Michael Ferguson was quoted in The Advocate as saying that ‘TT Line was in conversations with RMC’ and that Labor should not be ‘trying to involve themselves in what are commercial negotiations’.
“It has now been revealed by the TT-Line that just one day after Michael Ferguson made these remarks, on the 16th of July, the Premier instructed TT-Line to tear up the contract that was ready to be signed delaying the project until 2028.
“It beggars belief that Michael Ferguson expects the public to believe that one of the government’s biggest decisions was suddenly thrown into chaos with a rushed decision in the space of 24 hours.
“It’s more likely that the split between Michael Ferguson and Peter Gutwein since the leadership fight is so big that Michael Ferguson was kept completely out of the loop. The alternative is that he was misleading the Tasmanian people.”
