On the United Nations World Tourism Day we feature tourist guide Raymond Fordimail – a Jawoyn man who is sharing his language and culture with visitors from around the world.
Jawoyn people are the traditional owners of the Nitmiluk National Park, otherwise known as Katherine Gorge, a major tourist destination and sacred Aboriginal site.

For thousands of years the Jawoyn people have maintained their culture and traditions through stories passed down through the generations. However, Jawoyn is one of the many Indigenous languages that are endangered.
During International Year of Indigenous Languages we are highlighting the work underway to revive languages.
