Four teens arrested following alleged aggravated carjacking in Cheltenham

Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested four teens following an alleged aggravated carjacking in Cheltenham last night.

Officers were told the victim was sitting in his vehicle at a shopping centre carpark when he was approached by three teens on Nepean Highway on Friday, 30 September, just after 10pm.

It is alleged that the victim was threatened with a pair of pliers and pulled out of his vehicle before the three teens fled the scene in his grey Mazda sedan south along the Nepean Highway, stopping briefly to pick up two more teenagers.

The victim was not physically injured during the incident.

The Mazda was found abandoned at the intersection of Hammond and Cheltenham Roads, Dandenong a short time later.

Two 14-year-old girls from Cheltenham self-presented to a Protective Services Officer at a nearby train station and were arrested.

They were both released with an official caution for theft of a motor vehicle.

A 14-year-old boy from Cheltenham and a 16-year-old boy from Hampton were arrested on Lonsdale Street in Dandenong about 3am.

They are currently being interviewed by police and expected to be charged with aggravated carjacking and theft of motor vehicle.

An application to remand the boys into custody will be made later this morning.

One remaining teenager is still outstanding.
