Warrnambool City Council’s recreation and culture facilities will today (Friday, October 22) move to open for those who are double vaccinated.
This will mean those who attend the Warrnambool Art Gallery (WAG), AquaZone, Warrnambool Stadium, the Lighthouse Theatre and Warrnambool Library will need to display a vaccination certificate showing they have received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.
“These changes are in line with the Victorian Government’s regional roadmap and follow the successful ‘vaccinated economy’ trial that the WAG participated in,” Council Chief Executive Officer Peter Schneider said.
“The vaccination certificate requirements have been put in place to ensure we can more safely enjoy getting out to visit our favourite venues and facilities.
“Where possible the Council facilities have reached out to members advising them of the changes and we are looking forward to opening to greater numbers of people under the new arrangements.
“Importantly, our Library staff have made themselves available to help those who may be experiencing difficulty displaying their vaccination certificates.
“We have also posted a guide on how to access your vaccination certificate at www.library.warrnambool.vic.gov.au
“Warrnambool is in a really good position to embrace a gradual return to a more normal range of activities because of our high vaccination rate.
“At this stage other Council facilities including Archie Graham and the Civic Centre customer service area do not have the double vaccination requirement but will operate under existing arrangements which include social distancing, wearing of masks and scanning a QR code on entry.
