Funding Announced For MidCoast Community Projects

MidCoast Council

MidCoast Council will provide over $140,000 in funding for projects that will benefit the community.

The funding will help deliver local events, support community organisations and strengthen cultural programs. The projects will create opportunities for artists, volunteers and community groups throughout the region.

“These grants help bring great ideas to life and support the people who work hard to strengthen our communities,” said Council’s Manager Libraries, Community and Cultural Services, Alex Mills.

Council aims to support meaningful projects for our community through the Grants, Donations and Sponsorship Policy.

The funding will be provided through the following programs:

Community and Cultural Development Grant Program 2026

Council awarded $76,084 to 29 organisations including Cape Hawke Surf Life Saving Club, Great Lakes Band and Manning Homeless Action Group.

The program provides one-off funding to support community and cultural capacity-building projects, events and activities, or purchase equipment in support of community-based groups and eligible organisations.

Event Sponsorships Round 1 2026

Council awarded $36,500 to 12 events across the region including the Stroud International Brick and Rolling Pin Throwing Festival, Subsonic and Wingham Beef Week.

The funding supports events that attract visitors, showcase the MidCoast and bring communities together.

MidCoast Arts Support Program 2026

Council awarded $15,000 to four organisations including Stroud Crowd Choir and Gloucester Arts and Cultural Council.

The funding supports the delivery of arts and cultural projects that deliver on the priorities of the Cultural Plan.

NAIDOC Week Funding

Council awarded $8,000 in funding to two community groups including Tea Gardens Hawks Nest Aboriginal Reference Group and Forster Local Aboriginal Land Council to support local NAIDOC Week celebrations.

The funding supports events that welcome and engage the wider community while celebrating Aboriginal culture and heritage.

Funding for the Local Heritage Fund and NAIDOC Indigenous Art Scholarship will be announced over the coming months.
