The Gold Stealing Detection Unit (GSDU) investigating the potential theft of large quantities of gold bearing ore, executed 9 search warrants at residential and commercial properties in the Kalgoorlie and Busselton areas between December 2020 and January 2021 resulting in the arrest of two men and a woman.
Information obtained during the investigation led GSDU detectives to focus on a toll milling contract at the Greenfields Mill in Coolgardie, where a parcel of 16,931 tonnes of gold bearing ore was processed.
The 16,931 tonnes of ore produced 1,881.8 ounces of gold with an approximate gold value at the time of $3,368,704.00.
It is alleged the charged men transferred funds from processing the ore into bank accounts they could access.
