Work has started on the
160-year-old Reformed Presbyterian Church on Fenwick Street, to replace the
historic slate roof.
The project received funding
from our Central Geelong Heritage Fund, which is a
grants program provided by the Community Investment and Support Fund (CISF).
The church was built in 1862
and the historic slate roof has been deteriorating for a number of years.
Councillor Jim Mason, Chair
of the Arts, Culture and Heritage portfolio has met with Reverend Andrew Stewart
and contractor John Murnane, who say the new roof will preserve the 160 year
old building and keep its heritage intact.
