The Northern Territory Government is investing more than $2.1 million to improve safety of housing in homelands across the Territory.
In the Northern and Arafura regions, $1.1 million is available through the Electrical and Fire Safety Maintenance Program across 131 homelands and 498 houses.
The Electrical and Fire Safety Maintenance Program will improve the safety and conditions of northern homeland residents by reducing the risk of:
- electrical fire
- electrical hazards.
In the Southern region, $989,000 will be allocated through the East MacDonnell Homelands Housing Upgrade Program to contribute to the housing and infrastructure maintenance and upgrades across three homelands, 12 houses and one ablution.
Suitably qualified and eligible businesses are invited to apply for these two grant opportunities and must hold a current Contractor Accreditation Limited (CAL) accreditation equal to or greater than the value of the contract.
Works for both programs are expected to commence in July 2021 and to be completed and invoiced by 30 June 2022.
Applications for grants open Monday 19 April 2021 and close Monday 17 May 2021.
