Heading out on roads this weekend? Make smart decisions

A Townsville officer has intercepted a 30-year-old Mosman Park man after he was allegedly detected travelling 42km/h over the signed speed limit.

The man was driving on Woodstock Giru Road in Majors Creek when the officer allegedly detected him to be travelling at 142km/h in a 100km/h zone while towing a boat.

The driver was intercepted by the officer and subsequently performed a roadside breath test, recording a reading of 0.171 per cent BAC, over three times the legal limit.

The 30-year-old Mosman Park Man was Issued a Notice to Appear at Townsville Magistrates Court on September 29 for driving under the influence of liquor and disobeying the speed limit (drink driving and speeding). His license was also immediately suspended.

The Queensland Police Service is encouraging drivers to make smart decisions, heading into the second weekend of the school holidays and state-wide road safety campaign, Operation Cold Snap.
