High-range drink driving charge, NSW

A man has been charged with high-range drink driving after being stopped in Sydney’s north-west overnight.

Officers from Hawkesbury Police Area Command were patrolling McGraths Hill when they stopped a Ford utility on Windsor Road about 1.20am (Monday 23 March 2020), after the driver allegedly disobeyed a ‘Stop’ sign at the intersection of McGraths Road.

The driver was subjected to a roadside breath test which proved positive and he was arrested and taken to Windsor Police Station.

Police will allege the 35-year-old man returned a breath analysis reading of 0.189 and he was charged with high-range PCA.

The man is due to appear at Windsor Local Court on Wednesday 10 June 2020.

His licence has also been suspended.

Hawkesbury Police Area Command Duty Officer, Chief Inspector Garry Sims, said police continue targeting people who chose to drink and drive.

“Every police vehicle is an RBT unit and the message is simple, if you drink and drive, you will be caught,” C/Insp Sims said.
