High-range PCA charge after fail-to-stop crash with police vehicle, NSW

A woman has been charged with high-range PCA after allegedly failing to stop following a crash with a marked police vehicle in north west Sydney last night.

About 11.50pm (Friday 18 February 2022), officers attached to Riverstone Police Area Command were travelling along Garfield Road West, Marsden Park, when at the intersection of Richmond Road, a Hyundai sedan allegedly failed to stop at a red light and the two vehicles collided.

The Hyundai sedan continued to drive from the scene; however, was stopped by police a short time later on Excelsior Avenue.

The driver of the sedan – a 24-year-old woman – was subjected to a roadside breath test and allegedly returned a positive result.

The woman was arrested and taken to Riverstone Police Station where she underwent a breath analysis, which returned a reading of 0.189.

The Lethbridge Park woman was charged with five offences:

– Negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm),

– Interlock licence holder -not have approved device installed,

– Not give particulars to other driver,

– Proceed through red traffic light (not toll booth), and

– Drive with high range PCA – 2nd offence.

She was granted conditional bail and will appear at Blacktown Local Court on Tuesday 1 March 2022.

The occupants of the police vehicle were uninjured during the incident and minor damage was caused to the vehicle.
