A high-speed internet service is now available to businesses and residents in Jabiru thanks to a $4.5 million Northern Territory Government investment.
This upgrade provides Jabiru with a first class nbn service similar to Darwin and comparable to any other Australian capital city, increasing maximum download speed by a factor of 40.
The new service at Jabiru will have a genuine impact on lives and livelihoods with reliable access to telehealth, distance education and other Government assistance, while delivering genuine economic growth potential for tourism and other businesses in the heart of Kakadu National Park as part of the broader Jabiru redevelopment project.
The Territory Labor Government recognises telecommunications infrastructure as being crucial to developing our regions and is investing to provide modern digital services to reduce remote disadvantage.
This is a milestone project in the delivery of remote telecommunications infrastructure.
Work is also ongoing on several broadband co-investment programs throughout remote locations.
The Northern Territory Government continues its advocacy work with telecommunications providers and stakeholders to maximise the Federal investment in NT infrastructure.
