Detectives from Townsville Criminal Investigation Branch are investigating the death of a 44-year-old woman at Mundingburra in Townsville this morning (December 15).
Emergency services were called at approximately 11.45am to a Wellington Street address following reports a woman had suffered critical stab wounds.
The 44-year-old woman was declared deceased at the scene.
A 25-year-old man was taken into custody at a Gulliver Street address, and is assisting police with enquiries.
It will be alleged the man and woman are known to each other.
Investigations are ongoing. Anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage in either area at the time is urged to contact police.
