The Labor Government has provided $500,000 to eight local programs through the Empowering Communities grants program, supporting innovative, community-led initiatives that identify and address local crime and safety issues.

These organisations provide mental health training, arts programs, youth diversion programs, youth employment opportunities and tailored programs for women and families.

The eight successful recipients include:

  • Family Haven’s Greater Shepparton Lighthouse
  • Masomo Mbele Foundation, the Echo Hope: Empowering the Voices of Young Refugees project

  • Giz a Break Limited
  • International Association for Psychiatric Nurses
  • Mooroopna Education and Activity Centre’s Art Mural project
