Indonesia maritime and defence trade mission

Jeremy Rockliff, Premier

The Tasmanian Government will lead a focused industry delegation to Indonesia later this month as the next stage of our Tasmanian Trade and Investment Mission Plan 2024 to grow and diversify economic opportunities for Tasmanian businesses in key areas across the globe.

This follows a successful mission to New Zealand in August and last month’s delegation to Singapore and Vietnam.

Premier Jeremy Rockliff said:

“This will build on relationships developed in recent years with Indonesia and will explore opportunities across the rapidly emerging maritime training, defence industry engagement and niche manufacturing markets.”

“Now that COVID-19 related travel restrictions have lifted, it is an ideal time to re-engage in the Indonesian market.

“This targeted trade mission will be led by the Minister for Advanced Manufacturing and Defence Industries, Madeleine Ogilvie, and our Tasmanian Defence Advocate, Real Admiral (Rtd) Steve Gilmore.

Minister Ogilvie said:

“Businesses joining our trade mission will receive tailored support and advice on taking their products into the target market and will also act as ambassadors for the maritime and defence industry sectors in Tasmania.”

“Indonesia has been identified under the Tasmanian Government’s trade and investment mission plan as a focused country for opportunities in the maritime and training sectors.

“This trade mission is one more step on the path to open up business opportunities for our high value, high-performing maritime and defence industries.”
