Indonesian tech giant Bukalapak is setting up a Technology Hub in Melbourne, Victoria. The Hub is the company’s first international base.

R&D work to focus on big data, IoT and AI

Bukalapak is Indonesia’s first listed tech firm. Its online and offline platforms serve more than 100 million users.

The Technology Hub will focus on big data, Internet of Things and artificial intelligence. The work will support Bukalapak’s mission to help small, family-owned businesses to sell online. It also wants to improve access to products beyond Indonesia’s largest cities.

‘Melbourne’s tech ecosystem is an ideal base for Bukalapak to establish this tech hub,’ says Teddy Oetomo, Bukalapak’s President.

‘[It] enables Indonesia’s tech talent to work together with tech professionals from Australia and around the world.’
