Weekly Last Post services will now be held every Sunday at the Shrine of Remembrance to honour the work and sacrifice of Victoria’s veterans.
Fulfilling a pre-election commitment, the weekly services will kick off from this weekend and will run each Sunday from 4.45pm to 5.00pm.
The inaugural Last Post Service will acknowledge 85 years of Remembrance Day, with wreaths laid by 11 current and former Australian Defence Force members, representing almost all of the conflicts Australia has been involved in from World War II through to the present day.
As a once-off in the lead up to Remembrance, the Shrine will also be open to the public until 8pm on Sunday, with free tours available.
The Andrews Labor Government promised to introduce weekly commemorations last Remembrance Day as a way of paying lasting tribute to the service and sacrifice of Victoria’s veterans.
Each week, the service will acknowledge a different historic significant event, anniversary or battle.
Veterans, their families and friends, as well as the public are encouraged to attend.

Attendees are welcome to also view the 5000 Poppies Project ‘A Nation Weeps’ which is on display in the Shrine Visitor Centre until the end of February 2020.
