A multi-agency operation involving the Australian Federal Police (AFP), New South Wales Police Force (NSWPF) and Australian Border Force (ABF) is currently underway in Sydney.
This matter relates to an organised crime drug investigation.
In the early hours this morning (Saturday, 18 April), a yacht was interdicted in waters off the coast, south of Newcastle. The boat is suspected to be carrying a commercial shipment of border controlled drugs.
Two men have been arrested and are currently in police custody for charging processes.
The boat is subject to ongoing investigative and forensics procedures, where the drugs will be unloaded and the full volume of the importation will be known.
