Kep Enderby Memorial Lecture:
“Racial Equality in the Time of COVID”
The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically affected Australia’s diverse communities.
From the racial targeting of Asian Australians to the hard lockdown imposed on residents in Melbourne’s public housing towers, the pandemic has also raised questions about the place of diverse communities in Australian society.
The Australian Human Rights Commission’s annual Kep Enderby Memorial lecture honours the late Hon. Kep Enderby QC (1926-2015), who as Attorney-General introduced the Racial Discrimination Bill to parliament in 1975.
This year’s lecture is organised in partnership with the EU Delegation to Australia. It will feature leading voices from diverse communities, including Nyadol Nyuon, Ahmed Dini, Jason Yat-Sen Li and Diana Sayed.
They will discuss equality and inclusion in the year of Coronavirus, what lessons can be learned, and how we can ensure diverse communities are included in the road to recovery.
