Kingsley’s Passione Gourmet Deli owner and cancer survivor, David Infirri, is calling on residents in the northern suburbs to join him in 2022 for his fourth Biggest Morning Tea on Thursday 19 May, 2022.
Mr Infirri, who has been named our WA’s 2022 Biggest Morning Tea Ambassador, said he was so grateful to not only still be here, but to the local community for their endless generous support.
“In March 2019, I was diagnosed stage 4 bowel cancer with spread to the brain. It was such a shock – I was 38 years old, my wife was heavily pregnant with our second child, and the prognosis was not good,” Mr Infirri said.
“My doctor recently told me that stage 4 bowel cancer is often a two-year journey and with spread to the brain is most likely measured in months. I had it treated twice in the brain.
“But March 2022 is three years since my initial diagnosis, so it’s fair to say I’m beating the odds. I’m not cured of my cancer, however like any ‘condition’, it is being managed.
“That’s why I jumped on board to help raise funds for Cancer Council WA again this year and I am honoured to be asked to be the 2022 WA Ambassador.
“We will have a feast of treats on offer on Thursday 19 May, and a giant teacup set up at the deli so customers can donate throughout March, April and May. We can also accept card donations.
“I am feeling great and looking forward to another big cup full of money raised.
“It’s a cause very close to my heart and I encourage others in the community to jump on board and host their own morning tea during the year or donate.”
Our Acting Engagement Manager, Sarah McNamara, said she was in awe of David’s strength and determination.
“We are so grateful to David and the northern suburbs community for their continued support for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea,” Ms McNamara said.
“This year we are hoping to raise more than $1 million to continue our life-saving cancer research, prevention, advocacy and support programs.
For 29 years, our Biggest Morning Tea has brought together millions of Australians over a cup of tea in support of those affected by cancer.
“It doesn’t need to be fancy – your Biggest Morning Tea could be at home with friends or family, a simple morning tea in the office with workmates, a virtual get-together, or a gathering in the local community or at school,” she said.
“Simply register online at biggestmorningtea.com.au, set a date in April, May or June and start sending out your invites.
“Every dollar raised helps support those impacted by cancer.”
Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is the largest and most successful event of its kind in the country and attracts over 4,200 hosts each year.
