The Territory Labor Government is spending $50 million on recreational fishing infrastructure to enhance the Territory’s reputation as a world-class fishing destination – and delivering on an important election promise.
The infrastructure program is designed to enhance recreational fishing opportunities across the Territory, helping to attract tourists and boost our economy.
As part of this key election commitment, $7 million will be spent to improve the functionality of the Dundee Boat Ramp, which include upgrades of the:
Groyne,Provision of a footpath; andConstruction of a pontoon to allow for safer loading and unloading of vessels.
The Department for Infrastructure, Planning & Logistics will release the tender for the detailed design in early 2022, with the tender for construction expected to be released mid-to-late 2022.
Other $50 million RecFishing infrastructure projects currently underway include the Point Stuart Access Road upgrade with construction due for completion in late 2022, and the Daly River Boat Ramp upgrades, with a new bore being installed to support future works.
The tender to deliver upgrades to the car park and ablution facilities at the Daly River Boat Ramp is scheduled for release in early 2022.
The Territory Government currently has an on-going maintenance contract to support recreational fishing at this popular boat ramp until these improvement works are delivered.
