Laptops, phones, jewellery stolen from Balmain home, NSW

A man will appear in court today charged over an alleged aggravated break, enter and steal in Sydney earlier this month.

On Wednesday 12 February 2020, officers from Leichhardt Police Area Command commenced an investigation after they received a report of a break-in at a house on Ford Street, Balmain.

Items alleged to have been stolen include mobile phones, laptops, earphones and jewellery, with an estimated value of $8,000.

Following inquiries, a search warrant was executed at a unit on Morehead Street, Redfern, about 12.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 26 February 2020).

During the search, police seized clothing and items – believed to be stolen – which will undergo forensic examination.

A 44-year-old man was arrested outside the unit block about 1.40pm and taken to Newtown Police Station.

He was charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence-people there.

The man was refused bail to appear before Newtown Local Court today (Thursday 27 February 2020).
