Liquor & gaming NSW issues latest gaming machine data

Liquor & Gaming NSW

Liquor & Gaming NSW has released its latest gaming machine data reports as part of the NSW Government’s ongoing commitment to transparency on gambling activity across the state.

The data reports can be viewed on the Liquor & Gaming NSW website and include:

·Gaming machine numbers and net profit for each NSW local government area (LGA)

·Net profit rankings for all NSW venues with gaming machines.

The latest reports cover 1 December 2019 to 31 May 2020 for clubs, and 1 January 2020 to 30 June 2020 for hotels.

The net profit figures show significant decreases in gaming machine profits. This coincides with restrictions placed on gaming venues as a result of the COVID-19 Public Health Orders, including a 10-week closure of all gaming venues from 23 March to 31 May.

Additionally, because of the impacts of the COVID restrictions, the NSW Government allowed for a deferral of tax payments in the last instalment period. Tax adjustments for 2019-20 are yet to be finalised and the reports will be reissued when the information becomes available.

Compared to the previous six-month period:

·The total number of operating gaming machines fell by 870.

·Net profit decreased by 41 per cent for hotels and 40 per cent for clubs.

·Total net profit decreased by 40.6 per cent.

Compared to the same six-month period in 2019:

·The total number of operating gaming machines fell by 908.

·Net profit decreased by 33.2 per cent for hotels and 37.6 per cent for clubs.

·Total net profit decreased by 35.9 per cent.
