As the days get longer enjoying a meal in the sunshine is a simple pleasure that’s why Whittlesea Council is excited to be supporting local businesses in getting ready for outdoor dining once COVID restrictions allow.
Footpath dining has been successful overseas and is acknowledged as a safer way for restaurants and cafes to reopen during the pandemic and beyond.
Applications are now open for footpath trading zone permits and extensions of existing zones, with associated fees waived until September 2021.
The State Government’s $58 million Outdoor Dining and Entertainment Package will also open for applications soon.
Eligible businesses can apply for a grant of $5,000 to pay for the practical things like umbrellas, outdoor furniture, screens and other equipment.
Grants can also assist businesses with training, marketing and other costs associated with adapting new or expanding existing outdoor dining or entertainment.
