Works have started and the new Mallacoota Community Clubrooms are starting to emerge.

East Gippsland Shire Council is building the clubrooms, which will be approximately 400 square metres in size and consist of store rooms, commercial kitchen, first aid room, multi-purpose (function) room, toilets, showers, decks, change rooms, and meeting and umpire rooms.

The project also includes a 14- car parks and a disabled parking space. Car park entry will be from the north with the exit to the south.

Council’s General Manager Assets and Environment Fiona Weigall said the concrete slab has been poured.

“We expect to have the project 50 per cent complete by December and full completion anticipated by June 30, 2020.”

Works so far have used contractors Mallacoota Concrete & Garden Supplies, AH Building (Mallacoota), Mallacoota Electrical and Orbost Plumbing.

“Construction of the project will generate substantial economic activity in Mallacoota as a range of local tradespeople and suppliers will be used throughout the build,” Ms Weigall said.

The project received $975,000 funding from the Australian Government, with the balance being contributed by Council.
