Man charged following discovery of hydroponic set up and poker machines – Lake Illawarra

A man will face court today, after police allegedly located a hydroponic cannabis set-up, poker machines and guns in the Illawarra.

About 11.30am yesterday (Tuesday 5 March 2024), officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District executed a search warrant at a home in Fortescue Court, Albion Park.

Police allegedly located a sophisticated indoor hydroponic cannabis set up and 13 cannabis plants in a backyard shed.

A further search allegedly found dried cannabis leaf, two air rifles, imitation revolvers and two poker machines.

A crime scene was established, and the items were seized for forensic examination.

A 52-year-old man was arrested at the scene and conveyed to Lake Illawarra Police Station, where he was charged with enhanced indoor cultivate cannabis for commercial purpose, alter or add to electricity installation for metering, supply prohibited drug more than small & less than/ equal to indictable quantity, possess unauthorised firearm, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit and be in authorized passion of approved gaming machine.

He was refused bail to appear in Wollongong Local Court today (Tuesday 5 March 2024).
