Man charged with shoot with attempt to murder following Wentworthville shooting – Raptor Squad

Raptor Squad have charged a man with shooting with intent to murder following a public place shooting in Wentworthville last month.

About 7.45pm (Tuesday 20 February 2024), emergency services responded to reports of shots fired into a business on Wentworth Avenue in Wentworthville.

There were no reports of injuries.

A short time later, emergency services were called to Fulton Avenue, Wentworthville, after reports of a white scooter well alight.

Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze before the motorcycle was seized to undergo forensic examination.

Officers attached to Paramatta City Police Area Command established crime scenes at both locations and commenced inquiries before the matter was referred to State Crime Command’s Raptor Squad under Strike Force Berallier.

Following extensive inquiries, just after 12pm yesterday (Thursday 7 March 2024), strike force detectives arrested a 19-year-old man at a shopping centre in Bankstown.

The man was taken to Bankstown Police Station and charged with shoot at with intent to murder and discharge firearm etc intend cause grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court today (Friday 8 March 2024).

Police will allege in court the man was part of a joint criminal enterprise responsible for the shooting.
