Taskforce Wayward detectives have charged a man following a pursuit and the ramming of a police vehicle in Wyndham overnight.
The incident occurred when police attempted to speak to the driver of a car which was parked in a Williams Landing carpark just after 3am this morning.
As police approached the car, the driver allegedly reversed his vehicle into the police car causing one of the police officers to take evasive action to avoid being struck.
A pursuit commenced with the offending vehicle allegedly being driven at excessive speeds on Little Boundary Road, the Western Ring Road and against on-coming traffic on the Princes Freeway.
The pursuit concluded in Unicorn Court in Truganina when the occupants from the vehicle fled from the vehicle and two men were arrested.
An 18-year-old Frankston man has been charged with armed robbery relating to an incident at Point Cook on 2 April, aggravated and intentional exposure of police officer to risk by driving, damage to emergency vehicle by reckless driving, dangerous driving while being pursued by police and reckless conducted endangering life.
He has been remanded in custody to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court for a filing hearing on Monday 6 April.
Both the driver and his 24-year-old Braybrook male passenger, were also found to be in breach of the directions issued by the Chief Health Officer and were issued a $1652 penalty notice.
The investigation is ongoing in relation to the other passenger who fled the vehicle.
The directions by the Chief Health Officer, under the State of Emergency declared in Victoria, have been enacted to help stop the spread of Coronavirus.
